Fumez The Engineer, whose real name is Jorja Douglas, is a prominent figure in the UK music industry, particularly known for his work in the grime and drill scenes. He has gained considerable recognition for his engineering skills, producing, and mixing tracks for some of the biggest names in these genres. Fumez The Engineer developed an interest in music at a young age. His passion for the technical aspects of music production led him to pursue a career as a sound engineer. He started working with local artists and gradually built a reputation for his engineering prowess. His breakthrough came through his collaborations with artists in the burgeoning UK drill scene. Fumez The Engineer has worked with a wide range of artists, including prominent names in the grime and drill scenes. Some of his notable collaborations include work with artists like Headie One, M Huncho, and D-Block Europe. One of Fumez The Engineer’s most significant contributions is the “Plugged In” freestyle series. This series features various artists performing their tracks in a studio setting, engineered and mixed by Fumez. My favourite example of this plugged in is a feature from SJ. Although this freestyle verse was not even recorded in a studio setting, but in a prison cell, through a mobile phone microphone, Fumez The Engineer puts his incredible mixing skills to the test, and creates a vocal track, that sounds just as if it were recorded though a professional industry level microphone. In addition to his work with artists, Fumez has also been active in sharing his knowledge and experiences through behind-the-scenes content. This includes studio sessions and tutorials, providing insights into the engineering and production process.
